Camping Biesboschhoeve – de Vischplaat

Fastest route: 1.5 hours

A beautiful canoe trip through the Biesbosch that starts at our cozy marina. Before you paddle out of our marina, one of our staff will give you instructions on how to use the canoe. The first part of the route leads you through wide ditches and winding creeks. You will arrive at the beautiful ‘Sloot van Beneden Petrus’. You then sail on to the ‘Rietplaat’, where you can take a short rest on the beach. Over open water with beautiful views you set course for the Visplaat. Here you go back-to-basic camping on the grounds of farmer Jan and Nancy Saarloos. For your chance to spot beavers, board the canoe again at dusk and watch for movement in the Hole of One Hundred and Thirty.

Tips for your camping trip

Campfire: Open fire on the ground is a fire hazard. Barbecues and fire pits must therefore be at least 40 cm above the ground.

Fishing: fishing in the Biesbosch is only allowed if you have a permit. A day permit can be purchased from us.

Luggage: pack your luggage in garbage bags. It does not stay completely dry in a canoe. You will receive a waterproof barrel for your valuables, such as a telephone.

For camping trips we recommend a 2-person Canadian canoe. This canoe is the same size as a 3-person Canadian canoe and offers enough space for camping equipment.

Food/drink: we advise you to bring enough food and drinks. Restaurants and shops are only located on the outer edge of the Biesbosch. That’s a long way off for most of us.

Waste: take your waste with you and deposit it in the appropriate containers on the grounds of our marina.
